“The snow is falling and skiers are calling “WAHOOOO!” It’s lovely weather for ski day together with you! ”
Yes, it’s that time of year! The snow is piling up in soft, fluffly pillows, the holiday lights are casting their friendly glow and everyone is bundled up from head to toe. The holidays are here and we could not be more excited to welcome you to our friendly ski town.
While this time of year is so much fun and a family ski trip will provide memories for years to come, the planning can be a bit overwhelming. Here are Butte & Co’s best tips for Holiday ski trips:
- Book in advance…or as far in advance as possible. Hotels, transportation and ski rentals will all sell out. Reserving in advance will secure your plans and guarantee you the best pricing. If you haven’t booked your ski rentals yet, hop on over to the Book Now page and save up to 20%.
- Plan meals for off hours if possible. Have an early lunch or late lunch on the mountain, and plan the same for dinner. Peak periods for lunch are from 11:30-1:30 and dinner are 5-8pm. It may feel a bit odd to eat lunch at 11am, but it’s worth it to avoid the crowds and you’ll be hungry for a 5 pm dinner!
- Dress for the occasion! Be prepared for cold temperatures and winter weather by dressing properly from the start. Make sure everyone in your party is wearing proper layers including long underwear, and ski socks. Layers are key and don’t forget to protect your face with masks, balaclavas, goggles and sunscreen. Warm humans are happy humans!
- Expect the unexpected. When mother nature plays a huge role in your vacation, be ready to adjust your plans and roll with the punches. It might snow feet or inches, the wind may blow or it may be warm. Not necessarily what you worry about when visiting a museum… Check the weather and be flexible. Powder days are what we live for in the mountains, but they can make driving and getting around town a little difficult.
There is so much fun to be had here in the winter! If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out and ask your friends at Butte & Co. This is the season to be Jolly, so come on by and let’s have some fun!
